Summer Holiday - July 2005
Our third show was Summer Holiday and from the cast's point of view was the favourite of the shows we have done so far since Gatepost became an independent company from Heanor Gate Science College. The shows were again held at the Guildhall Theatre in Derby.
The show involved several major parts and loads of minor parts, all of the cast got a chance to act again, but it was only the major cast members that got solo's.
Summer Holiday is a show that could have been written for us, consisting of 60's music, exciting dance routines and characters who are the same age as our cast.
Our Summer Holiday production is based on the 1963 hit film starring Sir Cliff Richard. A group of friends decide to kit out a London Bus and travel to the South of France - but their plans go awry when they encounter three damsels in distress and a "teenager" with a secret..!
The Gatepost Theatre's strongest asset is its teamwork and rehearsals were hard work but good fun. The building of the London Bus was a major challenge but one that proved to be very satisfying.
So join us as we travel through France, Italy and Switzerland on our trip to Athens..."no more working for a week or two..."
